NYCB Digital Spring Season: Diamonds
The glittering final movement of Balanchine’s 1967 full-length plotless ballet Jewels, Diamonds is an homage to the grandeur of Imperial Russia and an elegant, sumptuous celebration of classical ballet technique, set to four of the five movements of Tschaikovksy’s Symphony No. 3 in D Major. This recording from September 19, 2019 features Principal Dancers Sara Mearns and Russel Janzen and a full compliment of the Company’s corps de ballet dancers, along with the New York City Ballet Orchestra conducted by Andrew Litton.
